Maintenance period: Whenever the X-axis is not level causing the first layer to print too close or too far from the Quick-change Build Plate on the right-hand side. This may occur over time due to the dual Z-axis stepper motors missing a step or inadvertent movement of the right-hand Z-axis threaded rod.
Comments: Investing extra time in these steps to achieve perfection will result in better prints.
Steps to adjust the X-axis Level:
- Start printing “X-AXIS Level Check” with standard settings. If this file is not in the Touch Interface LOCAL LIBRARY, continue by downloading the attached file to your desktop version of MatterControl and add it to the Cloud Library from your desktop.
- After the first layer has printed, cancel the print. The X-axis will return to its Home position.
- Compare the print quality of the right-hand square to the left-hand square. Based on the pictures below, select 1, 2, or 3 depending on which set best represents the print result.
- If the right-hand square indicates the nozzle is too far away from the quick change build plate when compared to the left-hand square(as pictured below), slowly turn the right-hand Z-axis threaded rod a quarter turn counter clockwise. This will lower the right-hand side of the X-axis. Return to step 1.
- If the right-hand square indicates the nozzle is too close to the quick change build plate when compared to the left-hand square(as pictured below), slowly turn the right hand Z-axis threaded rod a quarter turn clockwise. This will raise the right-hand side of the X-axis. Return to step 1.
- If the right hand square appears the same as the left hand square, then the X-axis is level. Proceed to Z Offset Check to confirm the Z Offset.
The picture above represents an x-axis that is level however the "Z Offset Check" now needs to be performed.
